Polycot (n.) (pol-y-kot) Polycot, aside from being a valid word in Scrabble®, is a biological term relating to a type of plant, specifically one whose seed contains more than two seed leaves. Many firs, spruces and pines are polycots. Polycots thrive in a wide range of climates, and are well suited to long term growth. Some of the largest plants on the earth, the California Redwoods, are polycots. Through the magic of gene splicing there are now plants as diverse as tomatos which are bred in polycot varieties, but most polycots are firs, spruces, pines, and ferns
